Bulgaria is a country in Southeast Europe, borders Romania to the north, Serbia and North Macedonia to the west, Greece and Turkey to the south, and the Black Sea to the east. From 1990 to 2000, population increased to 8,170,172, and from 2000 to 2010 the population of Bulgaria decrease by -774,573 with a change of -9.48 percent and decline of population from 2010 to 2020 by -461,584 with a change of -6.24 percent and make up to 6,934,015. As more and more young people move out to different country in search of work, the number of newborns has dropped dramatically from around 1000 babies born in 1985, to just 263 in 2021. Once a booming industrial hub, the region of Gabrovo in the centre of Bulgaria now has the country's lowest natural birth rate.
