Cape Verde is an archipelago and island country in the central Atlantic Ocean, lies west of Cap-Vert, the westernmost point of continental Africa, was uninhabited until the 15th century, when Portuguese explorers discovered the islands, by establishing the European settlement. Cabo Verde population in 2024 is estimated to be 584,360, covers country area of 4,033 sq km (1,557 sq mi). Its capital and largest city is Praia. Country code is CPV, The official language of Cape Verde is Portuguese, consisting of ten volcanic islands. Cape Verde became economically prosperous during the 16th and 17th centuries as many trading ships are passed through the islands.
