Austin is the capital city of the U.S. state of Texas, is the eleventh most populous city in the United States and the fourth most-populous city in Texas after Houston, San Antonio and Dallas. It's in Travis County, with parts extending into Hays and Williamson counties. Austin population in 2025 is estimated to be 990,740, City experienced accelerated growth during the 1990s, mainly due to high technology industries. The city also adopted a nickname called "Silicon Hills" in the 1990s due to a rapid influx of technology and development companies. The central business district of Austin is home to the tallest condo towers in the state, with The Independent tower having 210 meter tall and The Austonian tower 209 meter tall.

Austin History
In 1837 settlers founded the village of Waterloo on the banks of the Colorado River, Immigrants from Germany, Sweden and Mexico were the area's original settlers. In 1839 after renaming the Waterloo to Austin and becoming Texas Capital, extreme growth occurred. By 1840 Austin was incorporated with 856 residents. When Mexican invasion threatened Texas in 1842, the Texas government moved its administration activities from Austin to Houston, The Texas government returned to Austin in 1845, the year in which Texas was admitted to the United States. In 1850 construction boom saw in Austin with the construction of Capitol Building in 1853. Second wave of construction happened to see by developing the rail-road in 1870. By 1875 out of 10,363 people, there were 757 inhabitants from Germany, 138 from Sweden, 297 from Mexico, 215 from Ireland. In 1880 the population is 11,013, and in 1883, with the founding of the University of Texas, Austin became a college town, And after a fire destroyed the original building constructed in 1853, the current Capitol was completed in 1888. In 1890 the population is 14,575 and 22,258 in the year 1900. By 1893 the Austin Dam was completed near to north-west of town and by 1895 Austin dam generated electricity and began powering the city's new water and light systems. On April 7, 1900, the floods in Austin and Dam was dealt its final blow after a strong storm, floodwaters crested at 11 feet atop the dam before it disintegrated, with two 250 foot sections almost half the dam was breaking away. Total black out in Austin town, In that flood disaster 18 people are drowned and 100 houses were destroyed in Austin. By the mid of the year of 1900, the people of Austin struggled to recover from the disaster of floods. Having gotten a taste of city owned electric power, they refused to go back. they bought out the local private power company, which used steam driven generators, and today's Austin Energy municipal utility is in a legacy of the old Austin Dam. Between 1880 and 1920 Austin's population grew threefold to 34,876.
