Manila is the capital of the Philippines, located on the island of Luzon along the eastern shore of Manila Bay at the mouth of the Pasig River. Manila city is bisected by the Pasig River, It is divided into six administrative divisions and further comprise 17 districts. Two-thirds of the districts lie to the north of the river and the remaining third lies to the south. These two sections of the city are well connected by bridges. Manila is made up of 897 barangays, which are grouped into 100 zones, and has the most barangays of any metropolis in the Philippines. Manila population in 2023 is estimated to be 14.7 million.
