Oakland is the largest city in the Eastern region of the San Francisco Bay Area, Oakland population in 2024 is estimated to be 444,991, Covering city area of 77.89 sq mi (201.74 sq km), the eighth most populated city in California, and the forty-fifth most populated city in the United States. In 1851, Horace Carpentier, Edson Adams, and Andrew Moon started developing the place what is now downtown Oakland. Oakland started developing because land was becoming too expensive in San Francisco, many migrated to Oakland, of whom were recruited to work on railroads. Oakland is the birthplace of Kamala Harris, the current Vice President of the United States.
