Ottawa is the city in Ontario province and capital city of Canada, located on the south bank of the Ottawa River, and its confluence of three major rivers of the Ottawa River, the Gatineau River and the Rideau River. Ottawa population in 2024 is estimated to be 1.08 million, covers city area of 2,790.30 sq km (1,077.34 sq mi), fourth largest city in Canada. The Greater Ottawa-Gatineau Area is the census metropolitan area, also referred to as Canada's Capital Region is the city of Ottawa, and the neighboring city of Gatineau, Quebec. The Greater area can also increase its support to emerging or new economic clusters covers 6767.41 sq km (2612.79 sq mi) forms the metropolitan region.

The Greater Ottawa-Gatineau Area is defined as the City of Ottawa, the City of Gatineau, and the surrounding municipalities to the two cities. The Greater Ottawa-Gatineau population will soon reach 1.5 million people by 2025 and will likely reach 2 to 3 million by the end of this century.
