Pittsburgh is a city in the state of Pennsylvania in the United States, located in the southwest of the state, at the confluence of the Allegheny River and the Monongahela River, forming the Ohio River. Pittsburgh population in 2024 is estimated to be 304,968, covers city area of 58.34 sq mi (151.11 sq km), ranks second largest city of Pennsylvania and sixty-eight most populous city in the United States. The Greater Pittsburgh Region is a populous region in the United States which is largest city and economic center. The Pittsburgh MSA also saw significant growth in construction from 2011, which increased by 3 percent, and financial activities, with 3.6 percent growth. Many of the Pittsburgh neighborhoods are sloped with two lane roads and some are steep hill, the neighborhood names make reference to hills or heights in their location. The Pittsburgh consists of the Downtown area, called the Golden Triangle. The U.S. Steel Tower in Pittsburg is the tallest at 841 ft. Downtown Pittsburgh has a total of 30 skyscrapers, nine of which top 500 feet.

The Greater Pittsburgh or Pittsburgh Metropolitan area is an urbanized region centered on the city of Pittsburgh, is the combination of counties of Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio and Maryland. Pittsburg Combined Statistical Area includes Pennsylvania counties (Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Bedford, Blair, Butler, Cameron, Cambria, Centre, Clarion, Clearfield, Crawford, Elk, Erie, Fayette, Forest, Greene, Huntingdon, Indiana, Jefferson, Lawrence, Mercer, Mifflin, Somerset, Venango, Washington, Warren, and Westmoreland), nineteen West Virginia counties (Barbour, Brooke, Doddridge, Grant, Harrison, Hancock, Lewis, Marion, Marshall, Mineral, Monongalia, Ohio, Preston, Randolph, Taylor, Tucker, Tyler, Upshur, and Wetzel), five Ohio counties (Belmont, Columbiana, Jefferson, Harrison, and Monroe), and two Maryland counties (Allegany and Garrett), and portions of Chautauqua, New York in and around Ripley. Pittsburgh-NewCastle-Weirton is a Combined Statistical Area(CSA), extends into both the Southern United States (West Virginia) and the Midwestern United States (Ohio). Pittsburgh Metropolitan population in 2019 is estimated to be 2.6 million.
