Stockton is the city in U.S. state of California, located on the San Joaquin River in the northern San Joaquin Valley. Stockton population in 2024 is estimated to be 326,309, covering city area of 65.25 sq mi (169.01 sq km), ranks sixty-two in the United States, In 1849, Stockton was founded by Carlos Maria Weber when he acquired Rancho Campo de los Franceses. Stockton is popular for thousands of miles of waterways, which make up the California Delta. The city is named after Robert F. Stockton and it was the first community in California to have a name not of Spanish or Native American origin. In 1848, California Gold Rush, on their way to the goldfields Americans and Europeans started to arrive in the area of Weber.
