Tucson Population 2024

Tucson is a city in the U.S state of Arizona, second largest and is located in Pima County in Southwestern Arizona. and is 116 miles southeast of Phoenix and 69 miles north of the Mexico border. Tucson population in 2024 is estimated to be 551,897, covers area 240.79 sq mi (623.65 sq km). In 1775 when Hugo O'Conor founded the city, then part of Mexico, later became part of US territory, after the Gadsden Purchase of 1854. Tucson was the capital of the Arizona Territory from 1867 to 1889, but has since been replaced by the city of Phoenix. Tucson is the Spanish word meaning base of the black hill, is commonly known as "The Old Pueblo", and recently it is Optics Valley. Tucson popular attractions are the breathtaking national parks, monuments and wilderness areas. Crime rates aside, Tucson is an extremely popular place to live. Residents can explore the Saguaro National Park, hike the trails at the Sabino Canyon, and star gaze at Kitt Peak National Observatory. In 2015 estimated population of the entire Tucson metropolitan statistical area (MSA) was 980,263. The Greater Tucson or Tucson metropolitan MSA forms part of the larger Tucson-Nogales combined statistical area (CSA).

Tucson Metropolitan

According to US estimated 2019 census, The population of Greater Tucson or Tucson metropolitan in 2019 is 1,093,777, ranks fifty-fourth in US Combined Statical Areas(Tucson-Nogales, AZ CSA). The Tucson metropolitan or Greater Tucson area consisted of 48 areas of Pima County and the city and suburbs of Nogales. Nogales is a city in Santa Cruz County, covering city area of 20.83 sq miles, Arizona and is only about 60 miles south of Tucson on Interstate 19. Nogales forms part of the larger Tucson-Nogales combined statistical area. Major incorporated suburbs of Tucson include Oro Valley and Marana northwest of the city, Sahuarita south of the city, and South Tucson in an enclave south of downtown. Towns outside the Tucson metro area include Benson to the southeast, Catalina and Oracle to the north, and Green Valley to the south. The Tucson metro region covers Pima County, Tucson is the largest city in the area, other communities include Ajo, Arivaca, Casas Adobes, Catalina, Flowing Wells, Green Valley, Oro Valley, Marana, Sahuarita, Tanque Verde, Midvale Park, Tortolita and Vail.
