Sudan is a country in Northeast Africa, borders Egypt to the north, Eritrea, Ethiopia to the east, South Sudan to the south, Central African Republic and Chad to the west and Libya to the northwest. Sudan population in 2024 is estimated to be 48.65 million, covers country area of 1,886,068 sq km (728,215 sq mi), ranks fifteenth country by area and the thirty-third most populous country in the world. Its capital is Khartoum, its most populous city is Omdurman and popular cities are Khartoum North, Nyala, Port Sudan, El-Obeid, Kassala, Wad Madani, El Gadarif and Al Fashir. Country code is SDN, Life expectancy of Sudan is 67.55 years for male and 70.76 years for female. Ethnic wise seventy percent are Sudanese Arabs, and other groups include Fur, Beja, Nuba and Nubian people. Arabic and English are official languages of Sudan.

Sudan Population Growth

Sudan population in 1960 is 7,544,498, by 1970 the population is increased by 2,737,197 totaling to 10,281,695, by 1980 the population is increased to 14,507,466, and by 1990 the total increase of 20,147,592 in 30 years from 1960 to 1990 resulting to 20,147,592. From 1990 to 2000, population increased by 7,127,427 to 27,275,019, and from 2000 to 2010 the population of Sudan increase by 7,269,995 with a change of 26.65 percent and increase of population from 2010 to 2020 by 9,304,255 with a change of 26.93 percent and make up to 43,849,269. Sudan population in 2023 is estimated to be 47.28 million, population in 2022 is estimated to be 45.9 million, and Population of Sudan in 2021 is estimated as 44.87 million.
