Tonga is a Polynesian country in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, archipelago consisting of 169 islands, of which 36 are inhabited. Tonga was a British colony till 1970. Tonga population in 1960 is 61,574, by 1970 the population is increased by 22,770 totaling to 84,344, by 1980 the population is increased to 92,966, and by 1990 the total increase of 95,069 in 30 years from 1960 to 1990 resulting to 95,069. From 1990 to 2000, population increased to 97,962, and from 2000 to 2010 the population of Tonga increase by 6,019 with a change of 6.14 percent and increase of population from 2010 to 2020 by 1,716 with a change of 1.65 percent and make up to 105,697. Geologically islands have a limestone base formed from uplifted coral formations and others consist of limestone overlaying a volcanic base.
